As you say, lacking patience is a big factor. I think of blogging as being like making wine. A blog matures with age. And the longer you do it, the better your blog gets. The better it is, the more backlinks you draw in naturally, which is of course great for SEO. So you should just never give up. As the saying goes, persistence pays. When I first started blogging I thought I was going to start making money instantly, but the I realized it takes hard work like anything that's worth having do. Though I was discourage by the reality of this, I continued to blog and now I have a stronger passion in blogging. Not only will I become noticed by many people who are interested in what I have to say and promote, but I also will get paid from it too. From this I will keep my passion strong in blogging because all the hard work I put in now will allow people to benefit from my site and allow me to make money as I sleep as well.
