It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money online.
Yes, you read the title correctly. It’s totally impossible to make any money online.
…at least, with that sort of attitude. If you try to make money online with the attitude that it’s impossible or really unlikely, you’re dramatically increasing the chance that you will not make a dime. If you have negative feelings and refuse to take your online money making adventure seriously, your failure is guaranteed. To be fair, I won’t say that just being positive will result in your success either!
Making money online is not as easy as you’ll hear on late night infomercials or through sales letters on less-than honest websites. The one and only true way to produce a profit through work online is a combination of Dedication, Motivation and Effort. Let’s imagine it as a triangle. I drew up a diagram here.
The RunningOnlineBusiness.com Triangle of Success
Motivation is the base of the triangle. You need to have the motivation to find something you want to do and invest your time and energy into it. Next we have dedication, which is required to continue to manage your work and maintain the flow of profit. Dedication is also necessary to grow your business to the point where it becomes profitable. Finally there is effort. By putting the proper time and effort into your project you can be certain that it will be successful. See? My explanations of these key elements is simple. It’s not rocket science, it’s not a well-guarded secret that only a select few people know.
“Nothing can stop the man with the right mental attitude from achieving his goal; nothing on earth can help the man with the wrong mental attitude.”
- Thomas Jefferson
So where do you begin? Simple. Find a niche, which is sort of like a market you want to appeal to, and discover a way to profit with it. Would you like to run an affiliate website? Write and maintain a blog? Publish content? Be creative and introduce something that doesn’t really exist within that specific niche. If you’re going to write a blog, for example, ask yourself: Why would anyone want to read this? What’s different than the other blogs out there? Develop a unique feature about your business and make that known to the community.
Research niche saturation! Are there already a million successful sites talking about the same thing? If so, do you think you can bring anything to the table to differentiate yourself from them? Always aim to eventually reach the top but don’t be discouraged if you do not – you can still profit without being the number one site.
Once you discover what it is you want to do, start working! Produce something worthwhile. Put your heart and soul into it. If you’re going to make a blog and write one post, then place 4 different advertisements on it… you might as well just stop right there. Don’t worry about making money right away. Focus on producing something with quality, something that you can be proud of. Rather than making a one post blog, start writing about everything (relevant) you can think of. Find and keep loyal visitors. Run promotions to bring more people to your blog. Obviously I’m not going to cover everything you can do in this post, I’ll save it for another in the near future – but you get the general idea.
Don’t let yourself get discouraged. Realize that it takes time and effort to become successful. Work hard and constantly keep your eyes open for opportunity. Embrace new ideas and new methods. Don’t be afraid to try new things. Keep trying and doing your best, then one day you’ll log on and see a whole bunch of new comments to approve, you’ll find that your RSS Feed is getting many new subscribers, your advertising revenue will increase, and you’ll realize that you are on your way to success. Good luck and enjoy the journey.

I think luck has a part to play. You can search for all the places and ways to promote your site/business, but luck controls whether you actually find the right places or not.
You also need to have a niche, and the nature of the niche helps determine how much you might earn. For example, Humor is not very profitable (for me at least). There aren’t many things you can easily sell, apart from joke books etc, which few people are going to buy.
Like the look of the blog, and I will be back.

Nice post! Motivation and attitude are key factors in online success. Without expecting to succeed, you simply won’t.

A lot of people ask that same question. But aren’t really motivated to make the money.

I knew there was more to this post than what the title says!
I read a lot from newbies in the AM business and their start up attempts. Many fail because they expect checks to roll into their bank account in a short time.
I agree, the infomercials never tell the whole story…

Motivation is a trait as much as it is a tool, much like cerebral aptitude or sociability.
Having said that, I believe you can change just about any trait and get motivated and have a great attitude.
It’s all in the determination.
