The Value of a Penny

By Kovich On March 18, 2010 Under Making Money Online, Personal Development

We encounter pennies and other small denomination coins on a regular basis. Maybe you own a site that is currently only producing a few cents a day (on that note, if you are – contact me because I might buy it), maybe you recently made a purchase and told the cashier to keep the change. You’ve probably seen more than a few just lying on the street and walked on by. The majority of us strip the penny of all its value – but I don’t believe that we should. Allow me to explain.

I’ll begin with some basic mathematics. Take the equation s = mh; where s is equal to the total number of seconds in a single hour, m is equal to the number of seconds in a single minute, and h is equal to the total number of minutes in an hour.

As everyone knows, there are sixty seconds in every minute and sixty minutes in every hour. By implementing basic substitution, we now have the following:

s = 60(60)
s = 3600

This means that there are 3,600 seconds in one hour. With this newfound knowledge, imagine yourself gaining just one single cent every second for one full hour. A minute ago, you may have figured this wouldn’t be very valuable whatsoever. Has your opinion changed? Let’s go back to some math.

$0.01(3600) = 36

One cent times 3600 seconds is equal to 36 dollars an hour. Now let’s look at the bigger picture: If you produce 36 dollars an hour for one full day (twenty-four hours), you will have gained a total of $864. If we look at a year, you make $315,360! Now… is THAT worthwhile?

At this point, you’re probably wondering what I’m getting at here, so I’ll cut to the chase.

If you can develop a simple method that has the ability to produce one cent every second, you can personally experience the sort of earnings we learned about above. Now, you don’t need to actually bring in one penny every second, but just one cent for each second in a specific time frame. This means that if you don’t produce any earnings for 5 seconds, but on the sixth second manage to gain six cents, then you are on-track. Hopefully this makes sense.

Maybe next time you see a penny, nickel, dime, quarter, etc. you’ll remember this post and keep it, instead of simply tossing it aside. In the way of generating $0.01 a second, be creative. You could make a myriad of content sites which you tailor to specific, low-competition, moderate-volume keywords and bring in this amount of money. You could try the techniques I detailed on my post “Make $10 a Day” and simply expand them. The possibilities are literally endless.

I’d also like to point out that this method involves a deep psychological effect. If I was to tell you to develop a way to produce $864 a day, you would most likely laugh at me and cast me off. If I was to tell you to find a way to make $0.01 a second, you would probably end up intrigued, and explore some potential opportunities. So, I think that this alone helps prove that breaking larger goals into smaller ones that are easier to reach can really boost motivation in a person. I cover that subject in my post: It is IMPOSSIBLE to make money online – check it out!

Is it possible to make 1 cent every second?
If it’s only a mere penny, it can’t be that hard, right?
