Skyrocket your Forum’s Earnings

Hello and welcome to my guide on a unique way to skyrocket your forum’s earnings. I will not be talking about the usual techniques such as banner advertisements, affiliate program banners, etc.

Today, I would like to share with you an idea that I have encountered notable success with – one that is relatively unique and unheard of. We are going to be using the website CPALead.com, which is well known for its quality widgets and profitable programs. Now, let’s get down to business…

As I am writing this guide, I am also looking at the CPALead Publisher Chat Board. Throughout the day, random announcements are made regarding members and their specific earnings. Let’s take a look at the two most recently displayed: IGetMoney has earned $429.63 so far today with 240 leads and 4,625 clicks. Magicman has earned $292.21 so far today with 480 leads and 2,983 clicks. Pretty impressive, I must say. So, those are two random, legitimate individuals that have found great success with CPALead. With this method, you could be among them.

I’d like to say that the profitability of this method depends on your forum and its community. I am not promising you millions. Typically, the bigger your forum, the bigger your paycheck. However, this method is so easy to implement that you’re only spending a matter of minutes. It’s also completely free, so you have nothing to lose.

Alright. Let’s look first at what you need to get started:

1. A forum with active members. The more active your forum, the better.
2. A CPALead account. I respectfully request that you sign-up using my referral link since I am helping you with this method. I would greatly appreciate it.
3. A simple page to display the widget – full instructions later on in this guide.

Details on the method:
You are going to be creating a VIP Membership Package for your members. On some forums, you may see this called a Premium Membership, Sponsor Membership, or something similar in nature. Whatever the term, it’s all pretty much the same. These memberships offer interesting forum-related benefits to your members in return for their completion of a survey. It’s a win-win situation because they get what they want without having to spend a dime (and it doesn’t cost you anything), and you still get paid!

Now, for the actual process:
1. Sign-up for your account by clicking here. You will see a screen identical to the following image:

Your forum will be reviewed by the people in charge over at CPALead and it should be accepted quite quickly. In the rare event that you are not accepted, be sure to check out my blog as in the coming days I will be posting information on how to get accepted into the CPALead network.

2. While we wait for that part of the process to be completed, let’s keep moving. (I am going to assume that you are utilizing vBulletin software on your forum. I apologize if you are not, and I will try and post details for you in the near future.) We will now add the VIP usergroup for your members.

A. Login to the Admin Control Panel of your forum.
B. On the left-hand side, click Usergroups and then Add New Usergroup.

C. Near the top you’ll see the option to create a usergroup with permissions based off an existing usergroup – I recommend you select your standard membership usergroup and click go. This ensures that they don’t accidentally receive something like moderator power, etc. that could be potentially damaging to your forum.

D. At this time, you will need to make some decisions based off your own personal preferences. Decide what special features you want your group to have, and implement them accordingly.

Here are some examples of what you can do:
Create a special VIP section on your forum.
Make VIP usernames appear in a different color or in bold.
Allow VIPs to have a custom title.
Allow VIPs to close and open their own threads.
Allow unlimited private messages in their inbox.
Allow them to log in with invisible mode.
Remove the ‘Edited by’ from their posts.
Offer them increased avatar height and signature space.
And more! Just be creative!

3. Now that your group is established, let’s design the page that will allow them to obtain their membership. This part is a little tricky and requires a bit of coding. Fortunately, a lovely individual posted the entire process on creating a new page in vBulletin using your forum’s theme here.

The actual customization of the page is key, however, so I would like to talk about that for a moment. First and foremost, you cannot stress the FREE part of the VIP Membership enough. You should try using a lot of great colors and a nice font to make your members really feel like they’re becoming a VIP. List your bonuses clearly. Tell them everything you have to offer. Now, let’s add the survey widget from CPALead.

Log in to CPALead.com and click:
Widget – Create New Widget

Spend some time designing your widget’s skin and color scheme, then click continue. I recommend you then select Free Surveys and click continue once again. Set your access time to 1 Hour. This means that the user has one full hour to view the page before having to complete another survey. Keep the tease time at zero. Click continue and then change the opacity level to 100%. This will keep people from seeing the confirmation data without having completed a survey.

Click continue (getting used to that button yet?) and select a name for your widget. Click continue again and agree to the terms and conditions. All that’s left is to add the widget to your page and CPALead has a little box of information with the code and instructions located on the page you’ll be viewing at this point.

On the page you create, be sure to include a thank you and a congratulations message. Write a password on the page and instruct the individual to send you a PM on the forum with that password. Ensure that you change the password every few days to keep things simple. Once a user sends you the password, simply add them to the VIP Usergroup in the AdminCP. Simple enough, right?

All you need to do then is test the page, ensure the widget appears properly, and advertise the hell out of your new free VIP membership system!

Note: To help improve your earnings, try disabling surveys that aren’t relevant to your community. For example, if you own a gaming community, remove surveys that aren’t related to gaming. You can do this by clicking Widget – Your Widget’s Name – and Modify Surveys on the CPALead website.
