Understanding Organic SEO

Understanding Search Engine Optimization and How to Benefit From It

Organic SEO is a form of search engine optimization that is done manually with no blackhat methods or automated scripting. It is purely a way to optimize your website for search engines by following all the rules and not doing anything underhanded. It might take you a long time to see results, but you will ultimately be rewarded for your patience with better rankings and positions within results pages. In this guide, you will learn about organic SEO, how search engines work, and the importance of doing honest optimization with no blackhat techniques.

Learning About Search Engines
Search engines such as Google enable visitors to enter a specific phrase, which is known as a keyword. Once submitted, every page within the database containing the keyword will be presented in the results. There could be thousands or even millions of results, ranked in accordance to relevance and popularity. The more relevancies a page has in regards to a particular keyword, the more likely it is that it’ll appear on the first page of results.

Learning About Search Engine Spiders
How can search engines determine the importance of a web page? Considering there are billions of pages out there in cyberspace, search engines don’t use actual people to evaluate and calculate everything. The results are automated with software that is usually referred to as a “spider”. Google, for instance, uses algorithms to automatically reach out and search pages for content and keywords. These algorithms are changed regularly in order to prevent blackhat method users from manipulating and cheating the system.

Organic SEO is Also for Visitors
Every webmaster is guilty of altering his or her site in hopes of being picked up quickly by the spider bots. Everybody has done an underhanded technique at least once, as the temptation to be picked up quickly and to rank in a high position is very strong. However, the overall value of a website is determined by how organic the optimization is. Using underhanded methods will eventually cause a site to be flagged or even banned by Google.

Search engine optimization shouldn’t be done for the sake of web page rankings. A site should be built for the benefit of visitors. Quality should come before SEO. Algorithms can calculate the percentage of keyword usage on a web page, and if keywords are used too much, the page could be penalized. Also, going overboard with keywords will make content unreadable. Visitors won’t want to stay on a website for long if the content isn’t well written.

Fundamentals of Search Engine Optimization
The basics of an SEO campaign include on- and off-page methods. On-page techniques include keyword density and placement, content, page structure, and so forth. They basically include optimizing the content on your site. Off page techniques include inbound links. This means gaining backlinks from other sites with keyword anchor text. If you’re trying to optimize your site with the keyword “make money online”, for instance, you need to gain backlinks to your site with “make money online” as the text anchor. Submitting articles to article directories is a great way to gain inbound links with anchor text that will help your site’s ranking.

The Importance of SEO
Organic search engine optimization is the most effective way to conduct online promotion. It doesn’t have to cost a lot of money, just as long as you learn the proper ways of optimizing your site. It’s important that you realize that organic SEO is a long-term solution rather than short-term. In other words, you can’t expect your site to rank #1 in Google overnight. In fact, it could take months, depending on how effective your methods are.

Conclusion
SEO can be a great tool or a bad on. It all depends on how you use it. By sticking to the rules and not trying any blackhat methods (or taking shortcuts), you should be able to generate powerful results and leads. However, if you don’t optimize your site properly, your SEO campaign will blow up in your face.
